Led by the passionate and tireless Chinedu Mogbo, Green Fingers is dedicated to the protection of wildlife in Nigeria. What started as a small initiative has grown into a vital sanctuary for orphaned and injured wild animals, including monkeys, birds of prey, snakes, and civets.
Chinedu works closely with local authorities and communities to rescue animals from the illegal trade and give them a future again . The foundation provides educational programs for young people, with the goal of increasing awareness and respect for nature and its vulnerable inhabitants.
We strongly believe in their approach: small-scale, involved and with their hearts in the right place. Thanks to people like Chinedu , many animals get a second chance.
Our collaboration with Green Fingers in Nigeria began last year, when we came across this project through a colleague at Emirates. She had personally visited the shelter and was able to convince us of the reliability and great commitment of founder Chinedu and his team.
Nigeria is a special situation for us: as crew, we are not allowed to leave the hotel and therefore cannot visit projects on the ground ourselves. Nevertheless, we decided to support this initiative because we had a lot of good contact with the Emirates colleague, who assured us that this is a reliable project and that tremendous work is being done.
We help supply kitten milk powder (Royal Canin for young pangolins, and other milk powder for young monkeys, felines and other young wild animals) on a monthly basis. This nutrition is crucial to giving orphaned animals a second chance.
Green Fingers rescues animals that are victims of poaching, the bushmeat trade and tourist exploitation, and is committed to releasing them back into the wild. They also organize education programs for locals and participate in projects to clean the beaches around Lagos of plastic and trash.
Even though we cannot visit this project ourselves, the cooperation and monthly support ensure that these animals and their caretakers are helped. We are proud to be part of this special work.
