The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is dedicated to the protection and conservation of wildlife and habitats in Kenya. The DSWT is best known for rescuing and raising milk-dependent orphan elephants and rhinos so they can grow back in the wild when they reach adulthood.
The DSWT also manages anti-poaching teams, mobile veterinary units and community improvement programs.
Wings for Animals collects (used) pantyhoses from our colleagues and delivers them to DSWT. Baby orphan elephants and rhinos miss their mothers to protect them from sun and cold, so they are covered with blankets. Tights are used to tie blankets around them. The tights do not rub against their still tender tummies.
Also, Wings for Animals has virtually adopted elephant Sirimon since the beginning. You can read Sirimon’s story here.
