Blankets for Baby Rhino’s is a project that came into existence by a group of Amerian women that knitt and crochet blankets and other merchendise. These blankets keep the rhino-, elephant- and other wildlife orphans warm at night and protect them from the sun during the day.
Wings for Animals coordinates the transport of these knitted and crocheted blankets. To save costs, our colleagues transport the blankets from mostly the United States via our crew center to the crew hotel in Johannesburg. There the blankets are collected by volunteer Jan and she provides various (rhino) orphanages like Care for Wild, The Rhino Orphanage, Helping Rhino’s and Elephants Alive. In addition to blankets, the ladies of “Blankets for Baby Rhinos” make clothing for the rangers, their families and families living next to the nature parks.
In addition to transporting the knitted blankets, we have provided wildlife shelters with a drone and go-pro for the protection of the wild animals.
To offer even more help, we have virtually adopted orphaned rhinoceroses and elephants. If you want to know more about this or adopt an orphan as well, have a look here!
