On June 1, 2018, the Mangrove Info Center opened the Wild Bird Rehab foundation on its property. The mission of this nature conservation organization on Bonaire is to provide a home for the sick or injured birds of the island.

In addition to the many flamingos, the rehabilitation center has seen all kinds of residents: ducks, frigate birds, gannets, owls, parrots, herons and caracaras.

Wild Bird Rehab Bonaire largely ensures that the birds in need are cared for, receive medical attention and are released again.
