In India, we work with People for Animals Faridabad, an organisation that has been helping animals in need in and around the city of Faridabad since 2007. From their shelter, they rescue and care for sick, injured and abandoned animals, and conduct sterilisation programs to reduce the number of stray animals in an animal-friendly way.
In addition, PFA Faridabad actively promotes animal rights and awareness. Through educational programs in schools and universities, they teach young people about respect for all living things, encourage vegetarianism and advocate ethical treatment of animals – both in everyday life and within media, science and entertainment.
Many Dutch veterinarians and paraveterinarians travel – through Wings for Animals or other cooperation partners – to Faridabad to voluntarily help with sterilisation campaigns and care of animals in the shelter. Their efforts strengthen the local team and together make a lasting difference.
The organisation is officially recognized by the Animal Welfare Board of India, part of the Ministry of Environment and Forests. Thanks to their dedication, countless animals have already been given a second chance at a better life.
